Sheffield Renewables are giving the fish population in the River Don a Christmas present to be delivered in 2013.

Incorporated into our plans for Jordan’s Dam Hydro are a fish and eel pass and improvements to the river channel to make it more fish and eel friendly.

The weirs on the Don acts as barriers to migratory fish. Jordan’s Dam fish pass will work in tandem with the Hadfield fish pass on the next upstream weir to greatly improve fish and eel movements in the Don. Eels are now an endangered species with a 95% red uction in population in the last 25 years.
