After a year developing a community solar project Sheffield Renewables is very pleased to announce that work commenced last week installing 50kW of solar panels at High Green Development Trust’s (HGDT) Paces Campus Community Centre.
The scheme’s 50 kW array will cover an area larger than a tennis court and have a lifespan of up to 40 years. Generating around 38,000 kilowatt hours of electricity per year, the equivalent to that used by 12 homes and will save around 17 tons of CO2 emissions per year.
We would like to thank all our volunteers for their hard work, as well as HGDT, Sheffield City Council and Kier for enabling the project to go ahead. Our installer Homeco Energy has been fantastic, helpful and understanding in that community projects bring many different challenges.
Key Fund has provided valuable financial support to assist with the scheme and development costs.
