Our fourth solar installation is at Lembas Wholefood Wholesalers, a small local business in Sheffield. The installation was completed in December 2016, with 90 panels installed. This gives Lembas a 26.1kWp solar panel system with a predicted yield of 18 022kWh. This is the amount of electricity used by five homes!
Lembas uses a lot of electricity on fridges to keep their food cool. The panels allow them to reduce their carbon footprint and are a tangible symbol of their commitment to the environment and a low-carbon future.
The project was funded by shares raised through our November 2016 Community Share Offer. The project has provided an ethical investment opportunity which gives a modest (i.e rate of inflation) financial return, complemented by wider social and environmental benefits. The project cost £27,000 and has an expected income of around £791 per year.
